The End of All Things is at Hand

7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth : that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ , to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 4:7-11
As we are caught up in the daily activities of life we tend to forget that the end of all things is at hand! Peter reminds us that we should live as though expecting Christ to return at any moment by giving some practical examples of how we should conduct our daily affairs.
First of all we should show love and hospitality to others. That is not so hard when we think of those people we like, but what of the unlikable, unfriendly people we cross paths with each day? What about our enemies? Again, as mentioned before, these things are not natural for us; only by the grace of God can we show Christian virtues such as these.
What about your life goals? How do you determine your career goals? God has gifted every single person uniquely so that they are able to do perform the tasks for which they are created. Think of the things you like to do; think of those things which are easy for you. This gives you a good starting point for determining God's will for your life.
Above all, we were created to minister to others! In this self-centered society in which we live, ministering to others is the last thing we think of doing.
Finally, do not be afraid to speak of Christ to others for fear that you do not speak eloquently, or that your knowledge of the Word of God is limited. Every one's knowledge of the Word of God is limited by sin; even those who have studied the Bible for years.
God has made you the way you are and has placed you exactly where He intends you to be. Use your gifts to serve God by serving others around you. When you speak to others of the Bible Peter says, speak as the oracles of God. In other words, your life (thoughts, words, and deeds) are the only Bible that many people ever read. Live your lives to the glory of God!
Pray today that, remembering that the end of all things is at hand, you will, by the grace of God, be careful to exhibit Christ-like behavior in everything you do, wherever you are.
