Promises of Blessing

Ask the LORD for rain in the springtime; it is the LORD who makes the storm clouds. He gives showers of rain to men, and plants of the field to everyone.
Zechariah 10:1
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:28-34
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
Luke 18:28-30
God's promises of blessing are found throughout the entire Bible. In the Old Testament God was constantly telling Israel ways that He would bless them. Abraham was promised blessings of descendants as numerous as the sands of the seas. God promised King David that there would never fail to be a man upon the throne from the line of David. That promise was fulfilled in Christ, who was of the house and lineage of David.
Zechariah, shown above, tells us to, Ask the LORD for rain in the springtime; it is the LORD who makes the storm clouds. He gives showers of rain to men, and plants of the field to everyone. The blessings of God are not limited to God's children; all men receive the blessing of rain and sun to grow the plants given to us by God.
Both Matthew 6 and Luke 18 are wondrous promises of God's Blessing, especially to His children. The things of this world that so often possess our thoughts: what we wear, what we eat, how much money we make, how popular are we, etc. are all totally irrelevant to the Christian because we know that God is really the One who provides all of these things to us. Just as we never worried about such things when we were children growing up under our parents' care, so we should never worry about such things now.
See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you. Our lives are truly secure in the promises of blessing to us by God.
