Eternal Word of God

Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven. . . . Concerning Your testimonies, I have known of old that You have founded them forever.
Psalm 119:89 and 152
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.
Isaiah 40:8
“As for Me,” says the LORD, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the LORD, “from this time and forevermore.”
Isaiah 59:21
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
Matthew 24:35
Life is filled with surprises both good and bad (sometimes, mostly bad) yet you look to the Eternal Word of God. That's it you know; that's what makes life livable, bearable, and even enjoyable. It's not a myth; there really is immortality that is revealed to us through God's eternal Word.
The Psalmists and Prophets of the Old Testament took comfort in it and were quoted by the New Testament writers. Isaiah 59:21 shown above summarizes this truth by saying, My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants' descendants," says the LORD, "from this time and forevermore."
We don't live in a Hollywood or Disney world! Yet, in our culture most people want to live as though they do. Forgetting responsibilities, forgetting commitments, and rushing to whatever pleases them the most, they believe that this is as good as it gets. They could not be more wrong.
As Christians we are called to live above the world, knowing that God's Word is true and exists forever. Though we don't always understand what's happening in our lives, we continue on with hope and faith in God who is above all, and who is eternal. No matter how far down you fall, you can always look up! There is a bottom, but there is not a top!
Pray today for faith and hope as you look to the Eternal Word of God for strength and encouragement. |
