Abundantly Satisfied

7 How precious is Your loving kindness , O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
8 They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house,
And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
9 For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.
Psalm 36:7-9
What does it mean to be abundantly satisfied? Much talk can be heard among Christians of the abundant life, but to what are they referring?
Sometimes the perception is that if you trust Christ as your Savior you will be happy, happy, happy all the time, and that your riches will increase. When that doesn't happen; when things begin to go terribly wrong, the new convert says, "Wait a minute, I didn't sign up for this!"
That isn't what Paul said in Philippians 4:12-13. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength. ( NIV) Paul was abundantly satisfied, but that satisfaction had nothing to do with his outward circumstances.
As a Christian, our journey with the Lord teaches us to be abundantly satisfied with Him. Are you afraid? Put your trust under the shadow of Christ's wings. Do you seek abundant pleasures? Drink from the river of God's pleasures. Are you afraid of the dark? Go to Christ, the Fountain of Life; in His light you will see light.
Christ is all we need! All of our peace, comfort, and joy comes from Him. When we look to this world to give us happiness, we will always be disappointed; the happiness we get from the world is always short-lived. But the happiness, joy, and peace we receive from Christ will last for eternity.
Pray today that you will be abundantly satisfied with Christ, even though your circumstances may be difficult. Put your trust in Him and not in others. |
